Main information about Inderal.

Inderal is a beta-adrenoceptor blocker which acts to β1 и β2 receptors regardless of their location in the human body. it is active as to β1-adrenoceptors due to which it is used in the cardiological practice.

Inderal contains Propranolol ingredient.

This ingredient has a broad action and causes a lowering of the blood pressure, restores a heart rate during arrhythmia, improves the work of myocardium (lowers its agitation), neutralizes pain in chest during stenocardia and others.

A significant lowering of the blood pressure is observed in 3-5 days after beginning the use of Inderal. But in case of the wide affections of the cardiovascular system, an improvement of the rates of the blood pressure may happen in 2-3 weeks.

Inderal is indicated for the long-term or permanent use during pathologies of the cardiovascular system. It may also lower a number of migraine attacks and relieve a course of the migraine attack but it does not give an analgesic effect.

Inderal may be used during such diseases as hypertension, angina, unstable angina, sinus tachycardia, atrial fibrillation, essential tremor, thyrotoxic crisis.

Administration and dosage of Inderal

To control the rates of the blood pressure, patients are recommended to take Inderal 40-80 mg per day.

An induction dosing depends on a patient’s age, length of the hypertension, and general state of the cardiovascular system.

A patient is observed within 1-2 months, and the results of the treatment are estimated. If the treatment is ineffective, Inderal 80 mg is used 2-3 times per day. The highest dose of Inderal is 240 mg.

If arrhythmia, Inderal 40 mg is used 2-3 times per day.

If stenocardia, the treatment begins from the minimal dose of Inderal 40 mg 1-2 times per day, and then the dose is gradually increased.

To stimulate labors, Inderal is used in the dose of 20 mg every 30 minutes within 3 hours (6 times) under doctor’s supervision.
